Logging hours is how you build your verified service record. You can log from your dashboard, from the Service Logs page, or directly from an event you attended.

How to log your service hours
A short walkthrough video is coming soon for this step.

    Step-by-step

    1. 1

      Open Service Logs

Click Service Logs in the left nav, then click Log Hours in the top right.

    2. 2

      Select the organization

Choose from the list of orgs you've joined. If the org isn't on Yura, choose External Verifier (see the External Verifiers article).

    3. 3

      Enter the date

Pick the date you actually served. This can be today or any past date.

    4. 4

      Enter the duration

Hours and minutes — partial hours are fine (e.g., 1.5 hours or 1 hour 30 minutes). Be accurate; verifiers see this.

    5. 5

      Describe your activity

Write what you did, specifically. 'Sorted 200 canned goods for the Thanksgiving drive' gets approved faster than 'Helped out.'

    6. 6

      Fill out custom fields

If the organization requires additional fields (like supervisor name or location), they'll appear with a red asterisk. Fill them in to submit.

    7. 7

      Submit

Your log appears as Pending until the organization verifies it.

Log the same day you serve

You'll remember the details better and the organization gets faster verification turnaround. Set a reminder on your phone if it helps.

    Write specific descriptions

Verifiers approve detailed logs much faster. 'Tutored 3 students in algebra for 2 hours at the community center' beats 'Tutoring' every time.

    For students

If you're a student on a school-managed account, your school may require specific fields on every log (like supervisor name or service category). These appear as required fields with red asterisks and must be filled out before you can submit.
